The University of Georgia football program is in mourning after the tragic loss of offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy in a car accident early Sunday morning. The accident occurred just hours after the team celebrated their second consecutive national championship win. Two other members of the football program were also injured in the crash, but are stable. The accident took place south of the Georgia campus in Athens.
Head coach Kirby Smart shared his grief in a statement, saying, "Devin was an outstanding young man in every way. He was always smiling, was a great teammate and a joy to coach. Chandler was a valuable member of our football staff and brought an incredible attitude and energy every single day."
The loss of Willock and LeCroy is a reminder of the fragility of life and the impact that one person can have on a community. The Georgia football program will continue to honor and remember Willock and LeCroy, who were both instrumental in the team's success.
