Modric leads Croatia into First-ever Nations League finals spot

At the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna, Real Madrid players from both teams served as captains—David Alaba for Austria and Luka Modric for the visitors Croatia.



In a hectic first 10 minutes in the capital of Austria, Christoph Baumgartner's header quickly negated Modric's early close range finish.

Both before and after the break, Austria had the better chances, but Croatia's savvy experience under Modric ultimately gave them the victory.



Three minutes later, midfielder Christoph Baumgartner of Austria scored an equaliser, but goals from forward Marko Livaja and centre back Dejan Lovren in the second half gave Croatia, who is in the same World Cup group as Belgium, Canada, and Morocco, a remarkable victory.
